Business News May 2008East Renfrewshire Council’s Vocational Programme East Renfrewshire Council and the Education Department are fully committed to providing young people an opportunity to participate on the Vocational Programme, allowing them to achieve their full potential and prepare them for challenges of the future.
Their programme of vocational courses provides young people with a high quality, valued route and the opportunity to gain practical experience and qualifications that will allow them to progress further in education as well as helping them to enter the world of work. What is East Ren’s Vocational Programme? These are alternative awards that will enable young people to gain skills which will help them enter the workplace or further education in the future. From 2008 the Programme will offer approximately 300 places across Administration & Finance, Construction, Hairdressing, Sport, Horticulture, Hospitality, Sound Production, Engineering, Childcare, Landscaping, Fashion, Digital Photography, Electronics, Information Technology and Uniformed & Emergency Services. How can the Vocational Programme help employers? Offers employers the opportunity to select and interview young people who recognise what skills and attitudes are valued by employers Employers can speak to a lecturer or supervisor who has worked with the young person for at least a year Each young person who completes a vocational option will have many transferable skills that will compliment any workplace
