We also fully recognise the role of the Enterprise in Education agenda in encouraging the next generation of business people and entrepreneurs. The links between a ‘culture of enterprise’ and economic growth are very apparent and several of our Board are involved at various levels with Young Enterprise Scotland, one of Scotland's leading providers for aspiring young people in Enterprise in Education.
The Enterprise in Education agenda can only be successful if meaningful, sustainable linkages are forged between education providers (particularly schools and colleges) and employers. The Scottish Government’s Strategy for young enterprise - Determined to Succeed – aims to embed a culture of innovation and entrepreneurialsim in our young people, encouraging them to develop self-confidence, self-reliance and ambition to achieve their goals in life and in work. Determined to Succeed is about changing the attitudes of young people so that they have a much better chance of realising their full potential and better preparing them for the world of work. One of the keys to the success of the strategy is encouraging employers to create sustainable linkages with schools to help bring learning to life, into a real life work setting and so, working with the Council, the Chamber helps facilitate linkages between schools in East Renfrewshire and businesses. We work to raise the profile of this agenda within the business community.
