For the greatest majority of people, employability is the surest way of achieving a better quality of life and avoiding disadvantage, and thus ensuring local prosperity. For this reason we are active participants in a number of local and regional committees organised by the local authority or neighbouring authorities across Renfrewshire aimed at examining measures to create employment opportunities for those able to – and want to – secure and sustain meaningful work and reduce dependency on benefits. We are firmly supportive of the view that all of our young people (no matter where in the Authority they live) leave school into positive destinations.
East Renfrewshire’s employability strategy and operational plan were approved in July 2009. More details, including help from employers, can be found at http://www.eastrenfrewshire.gov.uk/worker or by contacting John Bergin, East Renfrewshire’s Employability Co-ordinator, on 0141 577 4052 or at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
