The Community Hub at Voluntary Action East Renfrewshire are working in partnership with the Economic Development team at East Renfrewshire Council to provide town centre information volunteers.
The volunteers will be a point of contact for members of the public, who are feeling unsure about coming into the Town Centres since lockdown was eased. They will be wearing hi-vis vests so they will be easily identifiable.
Their main role is to offer a friendly welcome back to the Towns Centres, to be on hand to offer reassurance about the safety measures in place and to take note of any concerns, questions or suggestions for improvements and feed these back to the Council through the Economic Development team.
They will be handing out an information leaflet to people with the FACTS information (Scottish Government) and on the other side it will have some information about the Community Hub at Voluntary Action East Renfrewshire and a list of useful contact numbers i.e. Customer First and Economic Development Team. The volunteers will have received a short health & safety briefing from the Economic Development Team before they begin volunteering. With regards to handing out the leaflets, we are currently looking at ways in which to do this as safely as possible for all parties involved. The areas we are aiming to cover are Barrhead, Neilston, Clarkston, Busby, Giffnock, Newton Mearns, Thornliebank and Eaglesham.
The role will also involve popping into local businesses to introduce themselves and to let retailers know why they are there. Should the retailers have any questions/queries in relation to Covid, social distancing measures or any other related inquiries, the volunteer will take a note of it and it will be passed on using the same route as outlined above.
If you have any questions please contact Community Hub at Voluntary Action on 0141 876 9555 Monday – Friday 10am – 3pm or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
