On Monday 30 April the Scottish Government will be hosting a Congress on Disability, Employment and the Workplace, designed for today’s employers from across the private and public sector. The Congress, which will be opened by the First Minister the Rt Hon Nicola Sturgeon MSP, will provide an opportunity to dispel the myths about employing disabled people and provide practical advice and guidance to potential employers.
The Scottish Government is committed to tackling this issue so that employers, disabled people and Scotland’s economy as a whole benefits. Having a more diverse workforce can have noticeable impacts on profits. For example, the collective purchasing power of the disabled community is valued at over £80 billion across the UK and continues to grow.
